The Sustainable Farming Workshop Series was designed to equip farmers, agricultural engineers, and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to adopt eco-friendly farming methods that increase productivity while conserving natural resources.

Topics Covered:

  • Water management and drip irrigation to conserve scarce water resources.

  • Soil fertility enhancement through organic fertilizers and crop rotation.

  • Selection and cultivation of drought-tolerant and climate-resilient crops.

  • Integrated pest management minimizing the use of chemical pesticides.

  • Post-harvest handling and reducing food losses.

Format:

  • Expert-led workshops held monthly in both Erbil and Sulaimaniyah.

  • Field demonstrations on partner farms showcasing practical applications.

  • Distribution of informational materials and toolkits.

Outcomes:
More than 300 participants attended the workshops, reporting increased confidence and immediate application of learned techniques on their farms. The initiative contributed to building a network of sustainable agriculture advocates throughout the region.
