Green Future Company launched the Green Awareness School Tour in early 2024 to inspire environmental responsibility and promote sustainable agricultural practices among the youth in Kurdistan. Recognizing the vital role of education in shaping future generations, the tour targeted over 15 public and private schools across the three main governorates: Sulaimaniyah, Erbil, and Duhok.

Objectives:

  • Educate students aged 10-16 on sustainable farming, organic agriculture, and climate change.

  • Promote awareness of local food systems and the environmental impact of food production.

  • Encourage hands-on learning through practical activities such as seed planting and compost making.

Activities:

  • Interactive classroom sessions delivered by agricultural experts, focusing on the basics of sustainable agriculture.

  • Distribution of home gardening kits, including seeds and instructions for growing vegetables.

  • Field visits to local farms, arranged for select schools, to witness sustainable practices firsthand.

  • Creative competitions (drawing, essays) centered on themes of green living.

Impact:
The program reached over 1,200 students and received positive feedback from teachers and parents alike. By equipping young learners with knowledge and practical skills, Green Future aims to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and empower students to be active participants in Iraq’s sustainable development.
